Highlighting Australia’s rising influence in the global tech startup arena, local startup Build Buddy has clinched victory at the Australian regional final of the esteemed Startup World Cup, organized by the prominent American VC firm Pegasus Tech Ventures.
Out of over 150 competing Australian startups, only ten advanced to the regional finals, held last night in Sydney during Startup&Angels Investor Week. Build Buddy’s triumph elevates this pioneering collaborative construction tech firm to the international stage, earning them a place in the semi-finals scheduled for San Francisco this October.
Build Buddy was founded by Danny Assabgy, a seasoned expert in the Australian home building sector who identified the lack of significant innovation in the industry and saw an opportunity for disruption. Alongside his team, Danny created technology that gives homeowners control and fosters a genuinely collaborative home-building experience.
The Build Buddy app allows users to design and construct their homes independently of a builder. Through step-by-step guidance, users know exactly what tasks to perform, when, and how, while connecting them to a curated network of verified contractors, consultants, and suppliers. This approach empowers homeowners to oversee their projects fully and achieve savings of up to 20% or more.
Danny Assabgy, Founder and CEO of Build Buddy, stated that winning the Startup World Cup regional final is a significant affirmation of their vision. He emphasized that the win not only acknowledges their hard work but also highlights Australian innovation on the global stage. Assabgy is thrilled to represent Australia in San Francisco and showcase how technology can enhance the accessibility and efficiency of home building.
Romane Delvallee, Head of Community at Startup&Angels, praised this year’s event as extraordinary, bringing attention to the top talent in Australia’s startup scene. Delvallee expressed enthusiasm for following Build Buddy’s progress as they advance on the global stage.
