JLL taps Luke Jackson and Bob Tan to co-head its capital markets data centre business in the region.
In response to the evolving demands of data center investors, operators, and end-users, JLL has unveiled a strategic expansion of its data center capital markets platform. Luke Jackson and Bob Tan will assume leadership as Co-Heads of data center investment and advisory services across the Asia Pacific region, effective January 1, fortifying JLL’s global position in the industry.
Leveraging their joint capabilities, Jackson and Tan will offer data center clients guidance on real estate matters, financial solutions, and partnership development. They will work closely with JLL’s US and EMEA capital markets teams and engage with the project management and facilities management teams to offer clients end-to-end solutions.
JLL’s Chief Operating Officer and Head of Alternatives, Capital Markets, Asia Pacific, Rohit Hemnani, stated that their data centre platform needs to align with the expansion goals and requirements of a growing international investor and client base to effectively serve this rapidly developing industry. He expressed confidence that Luke and Bob, with their combined expertise and leveraging JLL’s global data centre capital markets strength, will establish a new standard for delivering innovative capital solution strategies within this dynamic sector.
Having relocated from London to Sydney, Jackson steps into his new role, bringing with him valuable experience from his previous position as Head of Data Centres, Capital Markets, EMEA at JLL’s London office. In this role since January 2020, he worked with a diverse range of institutional investors, corporations, and operators within the global data centre industry. Jackson will continue to collaborate with the EMEA data centre team while bringing his extensive cross-regional knowledge to Asia Pacific. A long-time member of JLL, Jackson first joined the firm in Sydney in 2008 and has developed a broad commercial real estate background across the data centres, industrial & logistics, and hospitality sectors.
Based in Singapore as co-head, Tan brings considerable expertise to the role. Since joining JLL in 2005, his decade of experience has encompassed a broad range of data center transactions throughout APAC. These include acquisitions and disposals, sale and leaseback arrangements, strategic colocation deals, and portfolio transactions.
Global investors require support in navigating the complex data center market. JLL, through its cross-border platform, aims to meet this need. Stuart Crow, CEO of Capital Markets, Asia Pacific, explains that the combined EMEA and APAC expertise of Luke and Bob will provide clients with the necessary resources for strategic decision-making.
