Colliers International has invested in RealAR, a proptech company that utilizes augmented reality (AR) to provide property buyers with a realistic visualization of the interiors of homes that have not yet been built. The innovative app takes 2D floor plans or 3D models of fit-outs and transforms them into an immersive AR experience, allowing property seekers to view a life-size walk-through and experience the property as if it already exists. This technology enables property developers and home builders to offer their clients a more comprehensive and engaging real estate experience.
RealAR is offering property seekers a user-friendly and accessible way to visualize how streetscapes and outside views will impact their new home or alterations, enabling them to make informed purchase decisions with added comfort. According to RealAR’s Co-founder and CTO Keith Ahern, a former Netscape Silicon Valley VR software engineer, the technology enhances knowledge and understanding of proposals during the entire development assessment process of a space.
Founded in 2017, RealAR’s CEO Dan Swan PhD expressed excitement over being selected by Colliers for their 13-week accelerator program, which features nine companies from five other countries. Swan stated that the opportunity will allow the company to explore pilots and partnerships with Colliers’ people and clients to accelerate growth prospects for both parties. RealAR plans to focus on expanding its existing residential user base while leveraging Colliers International’s global reach to secure enterprise customers.
Zach Michaud, Colliers’ Vice-President of Global Strategic Investments, affirmed the company’s conviction that technology continues to improve their ability to serve clients and enhance their businesses. Colliers views technology as a tool rather than a threat to the real estate industry.
