Bricks and Agents, a proptech startup, has teamed up with Hipages to create the biggest online marketplace for tradespeople in Australia. The $9m partnership sees Hipages investing $6.25m in the venture, giving Bricks and Agents access to Hipages’ network of over 31,000 tradespeople. In turn, Hipages’ 21,000 contractors will receive requests made through Bricks and Agents’ platform.
The companies are focused on improving the property management and trades sectors with software platforms that simplify booking and payment processes for contractors. Bricks and Agents co-founder, Rafael Niesten, said the deal will strengthen its position in the domestic market and expand its services overseas. The company will target new revenue streams from owner and tenant maintenance requests that do not involve a property management agency, including end-of-lease cleaning and gardening services.
These initiatives will be rolled out over the next few months, and are expected to benefit property managers, owners, tenants, and trades. The partnership brings together two founder-led Australian success stories, both using technology-enabled solutions to disrupt the trade and property management industries.
