Realtor.com® has introduced an innovative AI-powered experience that allows users to design their own dream home for a limited time. This experience, a first of its kind, enables users to create their ideal homes using artificial intelligence, regardless of their personal style. What’s more, the tool will automatically search Realtor.com® for real homes that match the user’s design. One lucky winner of the AI Dream Home Sweepstakes will receive design plans for their dream home from Toll Brothers, America’s Luxury Home Builder, along with $2,500 in cash.
To create this unique tool, Realtor.com®’s machine learning team collaborated with Addition Technologies Inc. The Dream Home builder uses AI to generate a computer-based image of the user’s imagined home in mere seconds. To use the Dream Home builder, the user simply types in a description of their desired home. The prompt can be anything from a modern farmhouse with a wrap-around porch to a fairytale-inspired cottage in the woods, or a mid-century ranch with plenty of natural light. The AI-generated image of the house is created immediately, and the Dream Home builder will then search through hundreds of thousands of Realtor.com® listings to show homes that are similar in vision and style.
“At Realtor.com®, we are a technology company serving the real estate industry, and we are thrilled to use AI to drive the future of home search,” said Nuno Ferreira, SVP Brand & Executive Creative Director at Realtor.com®. “Our new experience empowers users to search with the power of their own imagination and design a home that fits their vision, rather than being limited by radial buttons or drop-down menus. If it exists in their minds, there’s a good chance that a real-life version also exists on Realtor.com®.
Bringing the power of AI into your home search
The AI Dream Home builder is a useful tool whether you’re seriously shopping for a new home or just daydreaming about the possibilities. By using image recognition technology, this innovative tool searches through hundreds of thousands of listings on Realtor.com® to find visual matches that closely align with your style preferences.
According to Paul Aaron, the CEO and co-founder of Addition Technologies, Generative AI is typically associated with content creation, but it can also be a powerful tool for content discovery. By combining AI’s content creation and discovery capabilities, AI Dream Home creates a more visually engaging way of finding homes.
To begin building your AI Dream Home, simply visit realtor.com/ai. It’s important to note that these plans are intended for framing and decorative purposes only and should not be relied upon for any particular structure, design, construction, or build project.
Additionally, the Realtor.com® AI Dream Home Sweepstakes is set to begin on April 17, 2023, and will end when the sponsor halts the image generation functionality on the sweepstakes landing page. The sweepstakes is open to adult residents of the 50 States and D.C., with certain restrictions applying. For further information regarding prize details, how to enter, eligibility, restrictions, and other important details, refer to the Official Rules. The sponsor for the sweepstakes is the Realtor.com® division of Move Sales, Inc., located at 901 E. 6th Street, Suite 500, Austin, TX 78702. No purchase is necessary, and the prize will be awarded per random drawing.
