Laing O’Rourke and John Holland, industry leaders in Australian construction, have formalized a partnership with Robotics Australia Group (RAG). This collaboration is designed to drive innovation and efficiency within the construction sector by leveraging robotics and automation.

By working closely with local robotics developers and suppliers, the companies aim to integrate cutting-edge solutions into their projects. This strategic move will not only enhance productivity and safety but also contribute to a more sustainable construction industry. Moreover, it will foster the development of locally-produced robotics and automation technologies, bolstering Australia’s robotics supply chain.

Dr. Sue Keay, Chair of Robotics Australia Group, highlighted the critical role of industry collaboration in advancing and validating robotics solutions for construction. She expressed excitement about the involvement of Laing O’Rourke and John Holland as key sponsors for the initiative.

Laing O’Rourke, a longstanding advocate for innovation in construction, is renewing its sponsorship for the third consecutive year. Dr. Regan Crookes, Director of Strategy, Transformation, and Innovation, underscored the potential of robotics and automation to revolutionize the industry by improving productivity, safety, and sustainability.

John Holland brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the partnership. Ron Azzi, Group General Manager of Technology, Engineering & Knowledge, stressed the critical role of innovation and smart technologies in delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects. He highlighted the importance of incorporating robotics, automation, drones, and AI to enhance efficiency and productivity, improve safety, and minimize environmental impact.

RAG continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Australian robotics industry. The organization is currently developing an industry roadmap, building upon the recently released National Robotics Strategy. This framework will chart the course for robotics in Australia, positioning the country as a global leader in robotics innovation and deployment.

This groundbreaking partnership between Laing O’Rourke, John Holland, and RAG will revolutionize Australian construction through robotics and automation, delivering unparalleled efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
