On August 30th, 2023, Brisbane played host to a gathering of proptech innovators, industry leaders, and government officials from Australia and New Zealand, all converging for the annual property technology conference known as Proptech LIVE. This event, a cornerstone of Something Fest, stands as the preeminent proptech gathering in the region, uniting experts from various property-related fields to deliberate on the future of the industry. The conference’s focus was to explore the transformative influence of emerging technologies and digital innovations on the property sector.
The conference kicked off with an inaugural address from Brisbane’s Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Brisbane 2032 Organizing Committee, highlighting the unwavering support of Brisbane City Council for the burgeoning proptech cluster. The address also underscored the tangible benefits that Brisbane City Council has already reaped through partnerships with local proptech companies.
A significant announcement during the opening address was Brisbane City Council’s collaboration with the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, aimed at bolstering the Proptech BNE. growth programs. These programs are designed to nurture the thriving proptech ecosystem and enhance capabilities in South East Queensland, addressing critical challenges faced by the sector.
Isaac Coonan, the Founder of Proptech BNE., emphasized that these programs have been carefully tailored to meet the industry’s core needs, with the overarching goal of bridging the gap between the property sector and proptech. According to Coonan, “These initiatives are designed to extract invaluable insights and data from the industry, ensuring that the next generation of proptech solutions is grounded in industry data.”
Looking ahead to 2024, Proptech BNE. will introduce three new programs with the support of Brisbane City Council to assist proptech companies at every stage of their development. Notably, the “Mission Accelerate” program will transport a group of local proptech firms to New York and Hong Kong, fostering stronger international connections between Australian technologies and global markets.
With the active participation of over 150 leading property and technology experts from Australia and New Zealand at Proptech LIVE, combined with the promising opportunities presented by Brisbane 2032, Proptech BNE. is confident that Brisbane and the wider South East Queensland region will take the lead in advancing the burgeoning proptech economy.
