The construction industry is embracing a digital transformation, replacing traditional paper-based methods with technology-driven solutions at every project stage. One critical area for improvement is the payment process, where delays and cash flow issues plague contractors and subcontractors.

Addressing this need for efficiency and transparency, Autodesk has announced its definitive agreement to acquire Payapps, a leading fintech and proptech company based in Melbourne, Australia. This strategic move aligns with Autodesk’s commitment to enhancing its Construction Cloud platform and revolutionizing payment and compliance management in construction projects worldwide.

Payapps, known as GCPay in North America, offers cloud-based solutions that streamline payment workflows, accelerating payment visibility and saving construction teams significant time and resources. By integrating Payapps’ technology into Autodesk Construction Cloud, customers will benefit from simplified, faster, and more efficient payment processes.

Geoff Tarrant, Executive Chairman of Payapps, emphasized the shared mission of both companies to empower customers with cost efficiencies and risk reduction. The acquisition will enable customers to leverage the technology strengths of both Autodesk and Payapps, enhancing payment management processes across construction projects.

This acquisition marks a significant milestone in reimagining the construction payment process. By expanding Autodesk Construction Cloud to include payment and compliance management, Autodesk aims to provide general contractors and subcontractors with unprecedented visibility and efficiency during payment cycles.

Industry leaders like Messer Construction Co. and Built have already experienced the benefits of Payapps’ solutions, praising its user-friendly interface and process efficiency. With Payapps integrated into Autodesk Construction Cloud, customers can expect streamlined workflows and improved project execution, allowing them to focus on business growth rather than payment complexities.

Autodesk’s acquisition of Payapps represents a transformative step towards modernizing construction payment processes, empowering stakeholders to spend less time on payment risk and administrative tasks, and more time on advancing their business objectives.
